Interview With Jayna Davis

VAN SUSTEREN: Was September 11th the first time terrorists struck Americans on U.S. soil? Conspiracy theories surrounding the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing didn't die with Timothy McVeigh. Just this week, the so- called dirty bomber was compared to John Doe #2, the suspect the FBI frantically sought immediately after the bombing.

But our next guest has her own story. Former TV reporter Jayna Davis joins us from Oklahoma City.

Jayna, you have -- in your opinion -- at least your research has produced a
different version of the events of what happened involving the Oklahoma City
bombing. What did you learn?

JAYNA DAVIS, FORMER OKLAHOMA CITY TV REPORTER: Well, what I learned through seven years of research, which began when I was a reporter here at the local NBC affiliate on April 19th, is that there are 24 Oklahomans who swore under oath that they can specifically identify Middle Eastern men, most of whom are former Iraqi soldiers, acting in collusion with McVeigh and Nichols through various stages of the bombing plot.

And, Greta, seven of those witnesses specifically identify a former Iraqi soldier named Hussain Hasam (ph) Al-Hussaini, and they can link him directly to Timothy McVeigh, the Ryder truck, the Murrah building, and the getaway vehicle that was aggressively pursued by law enforcement right after the attack on the Murrah building.

VAN SUSTEREN: Jayna, give me an idea of the level of proof of this
connection. Did these people see it? Did they work with him? I mean, how strong is this proof in your mind?

DAVIS: Well, several of these witnesses -- five of these witnesses actually
observed McVeigh working with several of these Middle Eastern men of Iraqi
descent at a local motel, and they saw them on repeated occasions in the weeks, months, days, and hours leading up to the Oklahoma City bombing.

In fact, the owner of that motel actually observed the man he described as
Hussain Hasam (ph) Al-Hussaini climb into the passenger seat of the Ryder truck, with McVeigh behind the driver's seat, drive away from that go, down the interstate, and head straight toward downtown, toward Oklahoma City. That was at 8:00 a.m. on April 19th, 1995.

VAN SUSTEREN: Now, Jayna, obviously, that was not the theory of the
prosecution of Timothy McVeigh. Why did the United States not pursue that theory if you believe it's so strong?

DAVIS: Well, that, I believe, Greta, is a question for the former attorney
general, the former director of the FBI, and the people that were working on the Oklahoma bomb task force.

All I know is that I made repeated efforts to give this information to the
FBI, worked very closely with an FBI agent, who, I think, is a very honorable
man, here in Oklahoma City in the spring and summer of '95. I was sharing this information with him on a daily and a weekly basis. He was very interested. He was looking into the alibi of Hussain Hasam Al- Hussaini until the Oklahoma bomb task force took this case out of his hands.

And then, back in 1997, I returned to the FBI. I set up an appointment,
Greta. I went down. I met with this agent again, and I was turning over 22
witness statements and hundreds of corroborating documents that actually
verified the critical aspects of all of their testimonies.

VAN SUSTEREN: Is...

DAVIS: I also had a notary public with me, and they refused...

VAN SUSTEREN: Is the smoking...

DAVIS: ... it.

VAN SUSTEREN: Is there a smoking gun document that you have?

DAVIS: Yes, it is -- I've had it in my possession for the past six years.
It's intelligent reports and also a prior warning that was issued by the
Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare.

It was issued on February 27th of 1995, and it stated there was going to be
an Iran-sponsored Islamic attack on U.S. soil, and the primary target was
Washington, D.C., Congress, and the White House, which is a chilling reminder of what happened on 9/11.

They beefed up security in the capitol city, and then the focus of the
terrorists then shifted to America's heartland. That's why on March 3rd of 1995, the director of the Congressional Task Force, Yossef Bodansky, issued an updated warning that went to the FBI and all the intelligence community that they were now headed for America's heartland, and 12 cities were placed on the potential target list because of the radical Islamic factions operating in those cities, and Oklahoma City was on that list.

The most startling information...

VAN SUSTEREN: If -- you know, Jayna, if...

DAVIS: The most startling information...

VAN SUSTEREN: If you're right, this is the most incredible either cover-up or look-the-other-way. I mean, this is extraordinary because not only is it a
prosecution where only one person, Timothy McVeigh -- well, there were actually Timothy McVeigh and two others who were brought into the prosecution -- but that this was a much broader conspiracy and perhaps may have been a huge warning to September 11th. So, I mean, why would you be ignored on something like this?

DAVIS: That is a question for law enforcement. All we've ever asked for is a
legitimate investigation.

The question is: Why was I turned away in 1997 when I tried to turn this information over on the eve of Terry Nichols' trial? Why was my lawyer told that the Department of Justice did not want any more documents for discovery to turn over to Terry Nichols' lawyers and Timothy McVeigh's lawyers? Why was this flatly refused and I was turned away?

I was a reputable reporter from a local NBC affiliate, and I had 22 statements from witnesses who were willing to testify under oath. Why were they never interviewed? Why was Hussain Al-Hussaini never interviewed? And why to this day does this man not have a credible alibi for the critical hours of April 19th, and why is the FBI not asking these questions?

I do not know the answer, but I do...

VAN SUSTEREN: All right.

DAVIS: ... believe it is a question that needs to be posed.

VAN SUSTEREN: And, Jayna, maybe tonight -- after hearing you, maybe they will attempt to answer you.

Thank you very much for joining us.

DAVIS: Thank you, Greta.
